Grade Competition Review 2021 Part 2

Dear Community,

Many thanks to those who attended last week’s meeting and to those who as invited, have provided feedback to the recommendations as presented. It’s wonderful to be part of an engaged community.

Upon review of the questions asked and feedback received, the Competition Committee have met, discussed and ratified a number of amendments to the initially developed rule changes. These amendments recognise the themes of concern as raised, yet do not detract from the strategic intent of the changes; being to provide relevant, meaningful and enjoyable competitive opportunities for all Victorian rowers not on an elite pathway; aiming to ensure that competitive participation is encouraged, grown and maintained.

Tomorrow night, I will run through these amendments (attached) and open the floor for verbal questions or comments for myself and/ or Competition Committee representatives. Due to the high level of engagement and so that we can hear from as many clubs as possible, I’ll only be able to acknowledge one representative from each club.

Following on from tomorrow night, I’ll be calling for any additional commentary to be directed to myself by next Thursday Oct 14.

Like many changes, if implemented, these will be continually reviewed through the season to determine their suitability for ongoing implementation.
