Dear Female Athletes,
On the 12th of September, Banks Rowing Club will be holding an open day to female rowers as we endeavour to build a program under the new direction of our head coach Nick Mitchell. Our goals for the squad is to allow female athletes to involve themselves in the rowing community with options to compete across a range of levels while holding a key social aspect that most clubs neglect.
Currently we have an active youth women's program and a developing club program that will be up and running come season opening. The open day is open to athletes of all ages wether you are at school with a couple of years to go or a couple of years out of school.
The day will follow this format:
11:00 - arrival
11:30 - group chat, crews selected and put on water
1:00ish - crews off water
1:30ish - BBQ
Banks Rowing Club was founded in 1866 with the objective of encouraging “rowing among bank officers.” It is a club with a rich history of developing young men and women as professionals and as elite athletes by drawing on the vast networks and experience of its current membership community.
The club will celebrate it’s 150th year in 2016 with the clear objective of being a vibrant club over the next 150 years. In order to achieve this target, the club will be focusing on creating well planned development pathways to help junior and school athletes become lightweight, heavyweight and club athletes and provide a pathway for those who aspire to the elite level.
Please contact us if you can make it down and feel free to invite fellow female athletes you have rowed with through the years. If you cannot make it, but would like to come for a row at another time or if you would like to find out more about Banks and how it can help you achieve your rowing goals, feel free to contact us.
