Rowing Victoria Member Clubs & Schools
Notice of Affiliation and Levy Changes – April 2018
Explanatory
Rowing Victoria (RV), in adherence to its strategic plan, has made no changes to RV fees and levies in the last three years. This has fostered participation in competition and in the recreational segment. The subsequent growth in regatta seats and membership has been a very tangible measure of this initiative’s success.
Inevitably, costs have risen over this three-year period for both RV and its regatta hosts. Many hosts are now saying the regatta hosting is now unsustainable due to all other costs associated with running a regatta. This is exacerbated in school regattas where the regatta host only gets $2 of the $8 collected.
RV also has incurred significant cost increases associated with safety, compliance and member protection – the great non-negotiables. These areas of Rowing Victoria’s administration will always be paramount to serving our membership.
Life Saving Victoria has been our single largest increased expense. In the last 3 years these services increased from $60k up to $110k. This is not sustainable and we are looking for a solution that will better suit our needs. Once this is found, we will adjust the Rescue Levy accordingly.
It is also important to note that the fee and levy increases correlate to no more than cpi over 3 years in most cases.
The RV CEO and Board would welcome any questions or feedback prior to the General Meeting on May 30 2018.
RV in accordance with the Constitution gives not less than 21 days notice of motion to determine membership fees shall be given to all members of RV (RV Constitution 10/2).
