We now seek Expressions of Interest from members of the Victorian Rowing Community who would like to be involved in any of these Commissions.  We are looking for a good cross-section of expertise and experience and I am happy to discuss and respond to any questions that you might have if you are considering getting involved.

APPENDIX 8 COMMISSION CHARTERS

Duties of the Commissions

1. Terms of Reference

1.1 Commissions are established to assist RV meet the objectives of the strategic plan.

They shall undertake the activities set out below and provide expertise and advice to both the Board and management of RV.

1.2 Each Commission:

1.2.1 will meet at least twice a year as required

1.2.2 will liaise with the Board and CEO through its Chair.

1.2.3 will liaise with other Commissions.

1.2.4 reports to the CEO and provides minutes of their meetings to the CEO.

1.2.5 where necessary, present to the Board under instruction from the CEO.

1.2.6 will provide an annual report to the Board and any other reports as required.

1.2.7 should have access to senior management and all employees and may, with prior approval of the CEO and where it deems it appropriate, engage outside experts.

1.2.8 should rotate 50% of its membership annually where possible.

1.2.9 the CEO shall advertise all commission positions annually

Specific Duties of the Membership Commission

5. Membership Commission Charter

5.1 General Areas of Responsibility

The member commission's primary focus will be on increasing the number of Victorians participating in the sport. THis includes involvmenet as competititors, administrators, officials, parents, supporters and corporate participants 

5.2 Objectives and Activities

Its objectives will be to make the sport more inclusive and enjoyable with a positive experience that promotes health and wellbeing of all involved. 

In particular the following areas will be considered, 

- How to promote rowing and make it easier to engage 

- to assist in establishing an education program that meeds the needs of the various stakeholders and members 

- Increase awareness of the sport of rowing

- explore innovative ways to increase participation as both a participant and a competitior 

- improve social opportunities for current and past rowing community members

- promote and improve safety for all participants 

- improve rowers retention and facilitate re-entry to the sport 

Each role needs KPI's established to determine how they will be delivered and its effectiveness in the next 12 months. 

The State Talent Pathway Coordinator will set the agenda, take minutes at the meeting and ensure the minutes are approved and published on the RV website within 7 days. 

5.3 Appointment 

5.3.1 The Membership commission will comprise of representatives with a cross section of members from across the sport, along with a coordinator, chair and a secretary.
