Selection Criteria:

  • Elite Coaching and/or competition experience
  • Level 2 Australian Rowing Coach Accreditation
  • Hold a current First Aid (HLTAID 011), CPR (HTLAID 009) and asthma qualification or ability to obtain
  • Current Boat Licence or ability to obtain
  • Completion of the anaphylaxis qualification or 22578VIC anaphylaxis qualification
  • Holder of a current Working with Children Check (WWCC), or ability to obtain
  • Computer skills for communication, reporting and data analysis

Assistant Coach

Melbourne RC

The Role

Part time - 15 hours per week

The Assistant Coach will be a club representative for inspiring, motivating and driving up the standard and competitive participation of the club.  They will be respected, approachable, experienced and fair, able to manage a diverse and wide range of members. They will have club culture and participation as a core focus.

The Assistant Coach will run club-wide rowing program based on recognised coaching standards and philosophy established by the Head Coach.  They will be willing to coach and share information to all club members, with a passion for excellence, directed toward recruiting, educating, coaching, nurturing and retaining athletes and coaches as life-long MRC members.

Potential for role to be lengthened beyond 4 months, including greater input to design, implement and continuously improve the rowing program with the Head Coach.

Skills

  • People management, including coordinating and communicating with members of all levels.
  • Advanced, evolving knowledge and application of rowing technique and athletic performance.
  • Negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Moderate level of computer literacy including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook/Email) and use of productivity apps to delivery and manage the program (eg. TeamApp).
  • Report preparation and presentation. 

Experience

  • At least 3 years of Coaching experience in a Club/School program. 
  • Track record of increasing participation in a program year-on-year.
  • Track record progress and improved performance year-on-year.
  • Track record of simultaneously coordinating more than 50 active participants in a program.

Richmond Rowing Club (RRC) is a vibrant, inclusive community that strives to offer opportunities for people of all abilities to participate, develop, and enjoy rowing. Position Overview

The Head Coach will play a key role in both the technical and community aspects of RRC. Working closely with the Head of Rowing (HoR), you will deliver a well-rounded training program that encourages participation, growth, and camaraderie within the club.

Hours: 18 per week (flexibility/annualisation considered)

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the HoR to develop and implement an Annual Training Program
  • Support the delivery of training sessions, rowing camps, and regatta
    participation across all squads
  • Directly coach senior squads, with some opportunities to support other
    competitive and recreational squads.
  • Provide leadership, education, and technical guidance to both club coaches and
    members, promoting growth at all levels.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and community

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Experience of managing or coaching rowing programs, including both competitive and recreational participants.
  • Proven ability to create an inclusive and supportive coaching environment that encourages participation and personal growth.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in use of office applications such as Microsoft Office and Google
    Workspace.
  • Level 1 Rowing Coaching Accreditation (Rowing Australia) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of boat maintenance, repair, and rigging.
  • First aid qualification.
  • Current National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.

About Us

At Richmond Rowing Club (RRC), we strive to provide opportunities for our members to participate, develop, and compete in a supportive and inclusive community on and off the water. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Stroke Coach to join our team and contribute to the success of our rowing program.

As a member of the RRC coaching team, you will work with the Head of Rowing and the Head Coach to coach programmed sessions for our competitive squad athletes. You will be responsible for providing technical direction to our members and contributing positively to a culture that aligns with our mission and values.

Key Responsibilities

● Support the Head of Rowing and Head Coach in implementing the Annual Training Program
● Coach scheduled on and off-water squad training sessions
● Assist in the development of volunteer coaches within the club
● Support the selection of crews and boat allocations for training
● Promote and demonstrate behaviors consistent with RRC’s mission statement

Selection Criteria

  • Level 1 Rowing Coach Accreditation (or willingness to complete)

A new photographic website run by rowers for rowers, Australian Rowing Images website (ARI) , is seeking to contract with photographers to cover major Victorian regattas in 2023. Photographers need to have their own equipment (although may borrow equipment from the proprietor), have an ABN and current working with children check, be robust given it is an outdoors task, and be able to upload their images regularly from the regatta to the cloud for processing by others same day onto the site. A daily rate will be negotiated depending on experience and regatta venue. Regattas to be covered include Victorian Championships, major school events and Australian Henley.

Amateur photographers with a rowing background are encouraged to apply. Although photographers will be acknowledged, copyright in the photos will pass to ARI.

RRC has around half of a bay of racking space available from 01 January 2024. This space is currently configured to store 5 quads and 18 single sculls but flexibility of configuration is available. Length of tenure is also negotiable.
