The VRA Landing Dredging Works
The dredging at the VRA landing on the Yarra River is now well underway, showing wonderful progress. Dredging works will continue until approximately the 10th of June.
Please note that the exclusion zone has now moved upstream and will continue to do so over the next fortnight, following the movements of the dredge operation. Please see below the latest exclusion zone.
VRA Landing Exclusion Zone – Dredging works
Note: The extent and shape of the exclusion zone is subject to change at the discretion of the dredge contractor.
River traffic rules and recommendations
During the dredging works the risk of collisions is greatly increased. We therefore ask that all those rowing on the Yarra to familiarise themselves with the temporary and pre-existing river traffic rules as well as taking extra precautions to minimise the risk of collisions.
Three large Port/Bay Buoys are placed around the dredge, including each corner and in the middle of the buoy line across the centre of the river, these will be well lit. These buoys are extremely large and well marked but will cause damage to a scull or oars if hit.
- Before launching take please take note of the exclusion zone and where the exclusion buoys are located.
- Proceed slowly and carefully whilst in the vicinity of the dredging works.
- Be mindful of your surroundings by regularly looking behind you for buoys and other boats.
- As usual please do not turn in front of the Boat House Drive boat sheds.
Princes Bridge traffic flow
- Boats travelling downstream to ONLY use the north arch through Princes Bridge.
- Boats travelling upstream beyond the exclusion zone to ONLY use the centre arch through Princes Bridge.
- Boats travelling upstream to access the staging downstream of the exclusion zone to ONLY use the south arch through Princes Bridge.
