AUSTRALIAN MASTERS ROWING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Well done to all Victorians who competed at the recent Australian Masters Rowing Championships at Lake Barrington. We were pleased to see plenty of success at club and state level across the 4 days of racing, including our Women’s Quad Scull once again claiming the Veteran’s Cup.
The crew of Sarah Sekfy, Helen Pearce, Tanja Nishibata, and Bea Klein-van Mullekom finished in 3:29.28, narrowly defeating the Queensland crew by 2.05 seconds. The victory made it seven in a row for Victoria in the event, and the eleventh win for Tanja Nishibata!
Our Men’s Quad Scull finished in 3:10.67 to claim Bronze in another hotly contested race, just short of Tasmania (3:07.99) and New South Wales (3:10.08). Both our Eights gave it their all, narrowly missing the podium in 4th.
Congratulations to Melbourne Rowing Club for taking out the Club Point Score, assisted by the performance of Rodney Stewart, who placed 2nd in the Individual Point Score. Well done also to Corio Bay Rowing Club (6th) and Carrum Rowing Club (7th) for featuring in the top 10.
