Victorian Rowers nominated for awards

The Finalists for the 2019 World Rowing Awards have been decided.
Following public nomination, the FISA Executive Committee selected the finalists based on the analysis of the expert panels created for each of the awards. Finalists for the 2019 World Rowing Awards involve quite a few of our own Victorian National representatitve Athletes.
Kim Brennan - nominated for the Thomas Keller Medal – for a rower who has had a long and successful rowing career and who has made an outstanding contribution to rowing as a competitor and as a sports personality.
Ria Thomson- nominated for the Filippi Spirit Award – for a university rower who has demonstrated the core values of rowing in his/her social, academic and sporting life and, through these values, also enabled or inspired exceptional success in other people's lives.
Australian Women's Four comprised of Victorian's Katrina Werry, Sarah Hawe and Lucy Stephan - World Rowing Women’s Crew of the Year.
Congratulations to all these individuals on their nomination, we wish the best of luck. The successful candidates will be formally announced at the World Rowing Awards dinner on 22nd of November 2019.
Local Leader Sports Star Awards
Congratulations to the following Victorian Athletes on their following awards at the Local Leader Sports Star Awards night held on the Monday the 14th of October:
Masthead Winners, Bayside Leader, Senior Sports Star Award - Ben Canham (Rowing)
Overall State Winners, Team Award - Winning Victorian Pentrith Cup Crew 2019 : James Crouch, Jayden Grey, Red Matthews, Michael McNamara and James Wilson (coach).
Handcock Prospecting Rower of the Year Awards 2019 Nominations
Congratulations to two of our Victorian Rowing clubs on their nomination for Aon Club of the Year Award:

Men's Rower of the year Award:

Pathways Athlete / Crew of the year award:

- Under 23 Men's Coxed Four: Ben Canham and Mitchell Hooper from Mercantile Rowing Club
- Junior Men's Double: Harrison Fox from Melbourne University Boat Club
