World Cup 3 Simulation Regatta
On Saturday 12th June, Rowing Victoria hosted the World Cup 3 Simulation Regatta at the National Water Sports Centre at Carrum. Due to COVID restrictions the Victorian selected Australian Underage Athletes were unable to attend the World Cup 3 Simulation Regatta held in Adelaide.
The Victorian athletes were presented with their uniforms from Rowing Australia CEO Ian Robson. Ian provided some stirring words in his speech to the athletes by reminding them all of the opportunity of what lies ahead with the 2032 Olympics likely to be in Brisbane. Ian asked the athletes who is going to make the most of this opportunity and be on the Olympic team in 2032.
All of the athletes were very excited to receive their uniforms and to wear the green and gold zoot suit most of them representing Australia for the first time.
There was some hard fought racing throughout the morning with the athletes showing some passion and determination to keep fighting right through to the finish line. The fastest prognostics of the day went to the Under 23 Women’s Coxed Four (Gaffney, Mitchell, Parr, Frederico, coxed by Georgakas)
This day might not have been what the athletes planned as part of their final race together in these crews for 2021. Despite this the athletes can be proud of how they conducted themselves both on and off the water during all the training and the racing at this regatta. We look forward to working with these young Victorian athletes as they continue their rowing journey in to the future.
