Ballarat Omnium #1 - Huge Success

The Inaugural Rowing Victoria Omnium was a huge success for all involved!

On Saturday 22nd of November, we saw many Clubs and schools take to a new way of racing on Ballarat's Lake Wendouree.

The Omnium Event was comprised of an approximate 7km distance, Five legs raced in the following order: 500m, 600m, 1000m, 700m, and 1250m. Circumnavigating Lake Wendouree in what was perfect conditions last Saturday.

With the help of Geo Tracking and STRAVA, crews navigated the course with great enthusiasm with many competitors not having been able to race since March this year, many saw great success and loved this creative new style of racing.

"It was a great challenge, but with adequate rest, each crew was ready to take on the next leg of each race! All the schools agreed it was a great course! "

We look forward to seeing many more Schools and Clubs involved for Ballarat's Omnium #2 on 19th December 2020!

Join us for a Christmas Celebration!

  Keep Safe Keep Racing

Keep Safe Keep Racing

A reminder to continue to follow the outlined COVIDSafe requirements in and around the club. Please continue to wear masks, socially distance, and respect the space around the boatshed so that all rowers can feel safe with their involvement in the sport.

With the weather warming up, boat traffic will increase. Specifically for the Yarra, the number of commercial vessel journeys will grow, so please continue to be alert towards all river users.

As it’s been a number of months for both coaches and coxswains being back on the water, please refresh your knowledge of the waterway rules, acknowledging the direction of travel and bridge arch use.

Competitors and Supporters Update

As you are aware, over the weekend the Government announced a number of changes in COVID management protocols; many of which affect our upcoming regattas. The “arrive, compete, leave” rule no longer applies. Please click HERE to view the full Competitors and supporters update.
